Ron Clark is a teacher – a very good teacher. He won the Disney Teacher of the Year award in 2001. A few weeks ago, I saw a movie about his inspiring story on television...
After I saw the movie, I went to his website to learn more about him. While I was there, I ordered a couple of his books. One is entitled The Excellent 11: Qualities Teachers and Parents Use to Motivate, Inspire and Educate Children.
The Excellent 11 is a quick read, full of interesting stories that really bring home Mr. Clark’s points. The book is written to teachers and parents. However, I think The Excellent 11 apply to leading adults.
Here are The Excellent 11. For reasons that should be obvious, I really like number 9. I’ll delve into each of these 11 characteristics more deeply in future posts.
- Enthusiasm
- Adventure
- Creativity
- Reflection
- Balance
- Compassion
- Confidence
- Humor
- Common Sense
- Appreciation
- Resilience
