The other day, I received an e mail from that had some great common sense stories. I’m posting the e mail here.
Finding funds to extend a growing business isn’t easy, especially when a loan from a traditional bank isn’t an option. The July 30 issue of The Wall Street Journal’s Small Business Link, www.wsj.com/smallbusinesslink profiles three entrepreneurs and their success stories in raising capital.
Here’s a summary of the three company’s stories.
Rather than selling part of his business to buy a fleet of small jets, William Herp, chief executive of Concord, MA based Linear Air, constructed a leasing arrangement with his investment bankers for wealthy individuals buy planes and lease them to Linear Air. Recently, Jupitermedia Corp. said it agreed to pay $20 million in cash plus a possible $3 million over the next two years for mediabistro.com, the job listings and seminar business Laurel Touby started in the mid-1990s by hosting cocktail parties.
