More years back than I care to believe, I went to West Point. We had a saying--"cooperate and graduate". Lots of things were determined by class rank--most importantly your choice of where you went for your first post, and the branch you were assigned to.
But much of the work was team oriented. If you acted alone, you very quickly got left behind by the pack. Not unlike bike racing. And business. You have to contribute to the team's success if you want personal success. Coopetition at its finest.
Great post. By the way--I rode today as well (I probably should say 'also'--I didn't really ride that well. So the half fast joke really hit home.)

Thanks for the comment Jeff.
Glad you got the half fast joke.
I cut 10 minutes off of my time on the same ride today. I was feeling good. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
Also, I love your West Point story. It's another way of pointing out that cooperation can occur even when you're in competition with others.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
BB
